Five years ago you said “I Do”, and your life changed in varied and wonderful ways: You made a commitment to one person to love, honor and cherish; you set up house together, complete with shared towels, a toothbrush rack and shared household duties; you gave up the dateless Fridays, and have fairly regular sex, even after five years. Life is good. So it’s time to celebrate a fifth anniversary. How to mark that time, the five most wonderful years of your life? Here are ten ideas to make the the so-called wooden anniversary a day to remember.

1. What do we think of when we think of wood? A fire in the fireplace? Furniture? Hardwood floors? Okay, this may sound odd for an anniversary present, but why not pick out new flooring together? Get a catalogue, or go on-line, and pick a beautiful oak, bamboo, cedar or other hardwood to use on a kitchen or living room floor. after five years together you’ve likely bought a house, or you’re thinking about it. New hardwood flooring may not seem romantic, but it will last a long, long time, and as you walk on it, its warmth, beauty and durability reminds you why you love your mate.

2. A fire in the fireplace is a pretty romantic notion as well. Put the kids to bed, fix a lavish dinner together, put a log on the fire, and pretend you’re in a wood-paneled, boutique hotel on the Left Bank. What happens after dinner is entirely up to you.

3. Speaking of Paris, you’ve been together five years. Isn’t it time to actually find that little boutique hotel and go there? Too expensive? Okay, find a wooden jar, and start adding spare change and a budgeted amount to it every week–five or ten bucks will do. Call it your Paris next year jar.

4. Get on-line, find an artisan site such as Etsy, and have a wood totem crafted of your spouse’s favorite thing. It could be a model of the first car you owned together, a wooden heart with your initials like you carved in a tree once, a bicycle built for two, a model of your boat, or even a wooden image of your kids in their likeness. If you’re really corny, as we are, the etching can say “I Wood Marry You All Over Again.”

5. Mystery is very romantic. Go to eBay or Craigslist and find a wooden numeral five. Then hang it where your spouse will see it, and only the two of you will know what it means.

6. Wood symbolizes durability. Make a simple plaque that reads I Love You X 5, then wrap it and give it to them at that fireplace dinner.

7. Wood is a symbol of longevity. If your mate loves green growing things, why not a bonsai tree? They’re long-lasting, low maintenance, and a sign of your love and affection–and your fidelity.

8. Write five love notes to each other, and put them in places they’d never guess. In their undies or socks, inside a sandwich, between the sheets where they’ll feel them with their toes, or inside a fresh-baked pie of their favorite flavor.

9. What does your mate enjoy doing for leisure time? Golf? The gift answer is perfect. Baseball–men are never too old for a new bat. Does she like tennis? A new ‘wood’ racket, which you may have to track down on-line these days. Crafts? The ideas are endless. Make it a wooden day to remember.

10. Ritual is important. Make a plan for your sixth anniversary that includes many of the same elements: Dinner together; a love note or two; kids in bed; and a fire in the fireplace. Then take the wooden #5 totem, and burn it up. Releasing a shared object can bring you closer together as well.

Five years of marital bliss is an accomplishment, and a reason to celebrate. These suggestions are easy, inexpensive–for the most part–and romantic, too. Try one or all of them, and enjoy your trip to Paris.

Do you have a license plate or license tag number and you need to find out the name and address of the owner of the vehicle? If so, you might have already realized that there is no free online database of license plate numbers.

Don’t worry. There is still hope. If you need to conduct a reverse license plate number search online, below are several methods to accomplish your goal.

  • The first method is to hire a private investigator. Find your local phone book and turn to the private investigation pages. Start calling and get prices for how much they charge to run a license plate trace. You can expect to pay $150 to $300 to get this service completed in your local area.

  • The next method is to use a large online private investigation service like Abika.com or BestPeopleSearch.com. These services will charge you $79 or more to search by license plate number. You will normally get back a combination of the following information: the first and last Name, address, registration and expiration date, make and model of vehicle, VIN number, title number, lien holder name. These services can normally get information for most states in the United States as Canadian Provinces. License plate data for additional countries are also available depending on the service.

  • The third option is to join a private investigation tools membership service where you have access to databases and resources used by private investigators. These memberships normally start at $29 to $59 per year and give you access to all sorts of people search databases used by private investigators. This is a good choice if you’re willing to do the work yourself and you want to save a little money. The downside to this option is there is no guarantee that you will be successful in your search.

As you can see from the options above, there is no such thing as a free reverse license plate search. About the only way you can get it done for free is if you know a law enforcement officer who will conduct the search for you (they have access to all of the databases).

Mosaic Tiles

When it comes to updating the floors in a house, a decision must be made as to which tile, carpet, hardwood or laminate should be used for the flooring. You have to choose depending on the room being done and what look and feel you are after. Mosaic tiles, which are versatile, durable and trendy, can be used in areas that have high traffic in the home and that need a product that looks good and can stand up to a lot of action.

Mosaic tiles come in a wide choice of textures, colors, layouts and shapes to suit to your requirements. They are so fun and colorful that sometimes they can even be considered pieces of art. Mosaics are often used in showers and on floors to add vibrant color and style to the room. Actually, all types of glass, ceramic and stone material are used as improvised mosaic tiles. There are vitreous-glass mosaic tiles, ceramic mosaic tiles and stained-glass tiles. The vitreous-glass mosaic tiles are like a plain sheet of transparent glass that is not clear and cuts easily and cleanly. There are also ceramic tiles that are mostly used for architectural purposes. However, most of the ceramic tiles that are found in hardware stores are a little thick for cutting into small pieces for smaller and more detailed mosaic work. Most of the mosaic tiles have ridges on the back side so that glue can bond more securely to the tile.

Mosaic tiles have to be cut to be used for laying. This can be done using a mosaic glass cutter for glass mosaic tiles and by using a tile nipper to cut ceramic mosaic tiles and stone tiles as needed. To arrange tiles in a grid, it is vital to have the tile attached to fiberglass mesh or paper mesh. If there is ever a need to remove the paper or mesh to make the tile loose, all one has to do is to soak the tiles in warm water and the tiles fall off the paper or mesh.
